Erasmus+ supports youth organizations in enabling young people to participate in education or learning experiences abroad. These activities can take place either as group-based or individual initiatives. The program aims to promote diversity, sustainability, digital education, inclusion, and informal and non-formal learning, among other objectives.
Who Can Participate?
Eligible participants include young people aged 13 to 30, youth workers, organizations, and informal groups of young people.
What Is Funded?
The following activities for young people are eligible for financial support:
Youth Exchanges (5–21 days):These are meetings where young people from at least two different countries come together for a short period to carry out a non-formal learning program inspired by the European Youth Goals. Activities may include workshops, exercises, discussions, role-playing, simulations, and outdoor activities.
Youth Participation Activities:These are activities outside formal general and vocational education that encourage, support, and facilitate young people’s participation in democratic life at local, regional, national, and European levels. Examples include face-to-face or online workshops, seminars, and consultations organized with young people to identify topics and issues that concern them.
DiscoverEU Inclusion Program (1–30 days):This initiative offers young people aged 18 and above, especially those with fewer opportunities, the chance to travel across Europe for a short period by train—or other means of transport when necessary—either individually or in groups of up to five people.
Under certain conditions, additional support may also be provided for accompanying persons, coaches, and preparatory visits.
How Can I Participate?
Applications for Erasmus+ funding must be submitted by organizations, or in some cases by informal groups representing participants, to the National Agency in their respective country. Individuals cannot apply for Erasmus+ mobility funding on their own.
Access to the program is possible through an Erasmus accreditation for organizations or through a standard project, such as Youth Exchanges, Vocational Mobility, Youth Participation Activities, or DiscoverEU.
