Critical Health Literacy: An International Mobility Project for Youth Workers

The Critical Health Literacy project was an international Erasmus+ Mobility of Youth Workers initiative designed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and competencies of youth workers in the field of health literacy. Implemented under the project code 2025-3-AT01-KA153-YOU-000370372, the project brought together participants from across Europe and neighboring regions between 17 and 24 March 2026.

The project provided a valuable platform for youth workers to exchange experiences, learn from one another, and explore innovative approaches to promoting health literacy among young people. Through a combination of workshops, interactive activities, discussions, and non-formal education methods, participants developed a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to health information in today's rapidly evolving digital environment.

Partner Organizations

The project was carried out through the cooperation of six organizations representing different countries:

  • Austria – FI Gesundheits- und Sportverein

  • Azerbaijan – Gənclər Azad Sahibkarlıq Fəaliyyətində İctimai Birliyi

  • Hungary – Debreceni Sport és Kulturális Központ

  • Türkiye – Aktif Gençlik Platformu

  • Georgia – Nuvoloq

  • Romania – S.C CYBERWARE CLOUD S.R.L

This international partnership created a diverse learning environment where participants could share perspectives, good practices, and experiences from their respective countries.

Project Objectives

The main objective of the Critical Health Literacy project was to enhance the capacity of youth workers in the area of critical health literacy. Health literacy refers to an individual's ability to access, understand, evaluate, and effectively use health-related information in everyday life.

Throughout the project, participants focused on several key objectives:

  • Strengthening their ability to assess the reliability and credibility of health information.

  • Raising awareness about misinformation and disinformation related to health topics.

  • Exploring practical methods for promoting health literacy within local communities and youth work settings.

  • Encouraging international cooperation and the exchange of good practices among participating organizations.

  • Experiencing interactive, experiential, and peer-learning approaches that can be applied in future youth work activities.

Building Stronger Communities Through Health Literacy

In an era where information is widely accessible yet not always reliable, health literacy has become an essential life skill. Young people are constantly exposed to health-related content through social media, websites, and online platforms, making it increasingly important to develop critical thinking skills and the ability to distinguish trustworthy information from misleading content.

By equipping youth workers with the necessary tools and methodologies, the Critical Health Literacy project aimed to create a multiplier effect, enabling participants to transfer their newly acquired knowledge and skills to young people in their local communities. Through international cooperation, non-formal education, and active participation, the project contributed to building more informed, resilient, and health-conscious communities across Europe and beyond.
